Ler's Latest Flair
Where Healthy Meets Happy
Hey, I’m Lerry and I’m so glad that you’ve joined me here in my cozy little corner of the internet. Let’s dive into a bit about me.
My name is Lerry (like fairy), but my friends, family, or anyone who knows me well call me Lé (or Ler). I’m a 24-year-old South African psychology student who loves playing around in the kitchen, living life to its fullest, and learning!
When I’m not what I consider ‘glammed up’ (which is truly the furthest thing to what glammed up REALLY means haha), I will either be in some form of activewear, sweats, or something extremely oversized and comfy. The latter is me 90% of the time!
I don’t enjoy clothes shopping or putting much make-up on – and when I feel that I ‘have’ to put some make-up on, I’ll spend under 15 minutes (max) doing so. But oh boy… put me into a bookstore or the homeware section of a shop, and you may need to pull up a chair because we’re going to be there for a LONG WHILE!
My parents are incredible, and they have always been extremely supportive of the choices that I make – that apply to my life. So when I was 17 years old, and I made the statement: “I’m going vegan… tomorrow” the only condition was that I make my own food – and I happily agreed!
I loved being vegan, and I embraced it fully while I was. I re-made all of my favorite dishes into vegan versions so that I could still enjoy them. (From hot-cross buns to ‘chicken’ mayo and everything in between).
I was vegan for 3 years, before deciding to compete in a body-building competition in early 2021. Little did I know at the time, but competing was the start of the end of my vegan journey.
The competing world was a whole new ball game for me to navigate food-wise! It’s safe to say that due to hormonal fluctuations (from being on such low calories for a prolonged time), the first meal I shoved into my mouth the day after my competition was a HUGE, juicy, cheesy BEEF burger!
Things snowballed a lot from there onwards. The journey was filled with many bumps and turns, but in hindsight I wouldn’t change a single part of it. I have learned SO MANY invaluable lessons along the way. Lessons that have helped me evolve into the coach I now am, and lessons that I can share with others I meet along my journey in the future.
Fast forward to today. I am a personal trainer who has an entirely renewed perspective and approach to nutrition and food in general.
When I’m in the kitchen, you will mostly find me making up yummy recipe variations of things we enjoy. ‘Variations’ that I’ve tried my best to sneak extra protein into. Of course while still trying to make them taste as close to the ‘original’ as possible! I don’t always achieve the latter, but the end results are still delicious.
Other times I feel like making non-health conscious recipes, that we love (like cakes, other bakes, desserts, etc). So here on this blog you will find a mixture of both – which is why I made the tagline “WHERE HEALTHY MEETS HAPPY!”
I’m so glad to have you as part of this new journey that I have stepped into. I now finally have a place to solidify and share the recipes that I post on my Instagram stories – and get daily messages requesting the ingredients and directions for. I hope you enjoy them as much as we do!
I listen to soo many different genres, but 70% of the time it’ll be a variation of house music.
AVATAR!! (both of them), and I absolutely love Pearl Harbour as well!
Podcasts 100%. I love learning, so I often listen to mindset podcasts while I work.
Right now I’m alternating between – Relentless by Tim Grover, and Wild by Cheryl Strayed. Me + Reading = me in one of my favorite elements.
Winter/ Early-Spring.
Europe!
More about Neuroplasticity and the brain in general.
Reading, writing, cooking, watching the sky, moving my body in some way (whether that be hikes, stretching, or training), spending quality time with the people I love, or meditating haha.
